(Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)

On August of 2008 Weber State University partnered with the Ogden City Schools' GEAR UP program: Own Your Future, that is serving 900 students in the three Junior Highs-Mount Ogden, Highland, and Mound Fort-and then advance into the high schools, Ben Lomond and Ogden to provide college readiness services to a cohort of students and follow them from 7th through 12th grade.

GEAR UP GOALS 

• Increase the post-secondary preparation of project students
• Increase the academic performance, attendance of project students
• Increase the rate of high school graduation and post-secondary participation of project students
• Increase students' and families' knowledge of post-secondary education options, preparation, and financing
• Increase the educational expectations and planning activities of project students
• Increase the preparation of project teachers and staff to teach and serve students
