School Choice/Boundary exception:   A parent can choose to send their child to a school that is not in their boundaries.  Please follow the procedures listed below.

Open Enrollment:  Can only be done during the open enrollment window (this window is usually open from Jan-Feb).  Not all schools are available for Open Enrollment.  The open enrollment dates and the schools available for open enrollment will be posted on the district web page under latest news and events.

• Complete a  School Choice/Boundary Exception Form
• Take it to the school your student attends and have the Principal initial the School Choice/Boundary Exception Form.
• Take it to the school of choice and have the Principal sign the form. Make sure he/she checks off approval or denial. If denied, please have him/her comment as to why they are denying the School Choice/Boundary Exception.
• If the School Choice/Boundary Exception is denied, you have the right to request an appeal hearing, within 10 days of the denial. Please request this in writing and turn in to Student Services, or call 801-737-7290 to request an appeal hearing.

• Complete un formulario Excepción de Limite Escolar
• Lleve el formulario a la escuela donde asiste su hijo/a y obtenga la firma del Director/a de la escuela.
• Lleve el formulario a la escuela que usted escogió y obtenga la firma del Director/a, asegúrese de que ella/el indiquen si están aprobando o denegando la petición.
• Si la petición es denegada, usted tiene el derecho de apelar la decisión dentro de 10 días de la denegación. Por favor pida la junta de apelación por escrito y entréguela al Departamento de Servicios Estudiantiles o llame al 801-737-7290 para pedir una junta de apelación.
