Highlights of the latest Ogden School District Board of Education regular session meeting.

On Thursday, January 16, 2025 the Ogden School District Board of Education celebrated many students. Mound Fort Junior High School Counselor Ashley Tracy was recognized as the recipient of the Utah School Counselor Association's "Rookie of the Year" recipient. 

During the January 8 meeting, newly elected board member John Peterson was sworn into office.

Ogden School District is accepting applications for district 6 of the board of education.

An unexpected vacancy has created the need for the board of education to appoint a representative for voting district 6 to serve from February 2025 through December 2026. Applicants must be a full time resident within voting district 6 of the Ogden School District Board of Education voting district map. View the voting district map.

Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Applicants approved for consideration will be notified to attend a special session of the Ogden School District Board of Education on Thursday, January 30 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the district board room at 1950 Monroe Blvd. Building #1.

During the special session applicants will be interviewed by the board of education.

Board of Education members are eligible for compensation and benefits including:

  • Board members receive $7,200 per year ($600 per month) as compensation
    for services.
  • Board leadership (president and vice president) receives an additional $100
    per month compensation for services.
  • Board members on committee assignment with the District or USBA may
    receive an additional $50 per meeting attended.
  • Health insurance coverage options are available.
  • Board members receive $50,000 term life insurance.

El Distrito Escolar de Ogden está aceptando solicitudes para el distrito 6 de la junta de educación.

Una vacante inesperada ha creado la necesidad de que la junta de educación nombre un representante para el distrito de votación 6, quien servirá desde febrero de 2025 hasta diciembre de 2026. Los solicitantes deben ser residentes a tiempo completo dentro del distrito de votación 6 del mapa de la junta de educación del Distrito Escolar de Ogden. Mount Ogden Junior High School and Ogden School District are celebrating a prestigious honor earned by our students and teachers.

We are thrilled to announce that Mount Ogden Junior High School has officially been authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the prestigious Middle Years Programme (MYP)! This significant achievement reflects years of dedication, collaboration, and growth by our teachers, students, and school community.

As the only public junior high school in Utah with this designation, we join an elite network of schools worldwide that share a commitment to creating a better, more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and rigorous education. Together with Liberty Elementary and Ogden High School, Mount Ogden helps complete Ogden School District’s state-leading IB pathway—the only one in Utah.

Principal Cynthia Kuni shared, “The real winner here is Mount Ogden Junior High! George Washington Principal Joshua Bell presented Representative Rosemary Lesser, MD to the board of education. Rep. Lesser was the recipient of the Adult Education Champion Award for her efforts to expand the availability and successfulness of programs to help adults achieve high school graduation and equivalency.

Music Specialist Connor Pack talked to board members about the ongoing development and success of our mariachi music program. District leadership delivered a state of the district presentation.

Reconocimos a los estudiantes Academic All-State de Ben Lomond High School.  

Los entrenadores Alexis King y Tyler Herzog celebraron a los Campeones Académicos Estatales de Ogden High School en fútbol femenino y golf masculino, respectivamente.  

El director de George Washington High School, Joshua Bell, presentó a la Dra. Rosemary Lesser, representante estatal, a la Junta de Educación. La representante Lesser fue galardonada con el **Premio Campeón de Educación para Adultos** por sus esfuerzos para expandir y mejorar los programas que ayudan a los adultos a obtener su diploma de secundaria o equivalencia.  

El especialista en música Connor Pack habló con los miembros de la junta sobre el desarrollo y éxito continuo de nuestro programa de música de mariachi. Además, el liderazgo del distrito presentó un informe sobre el estado del distrito.
