Since March 2020, Ogden School District has made significant investments to ensure that each student has access to a personal technology device and internet access through our Digital Elevation plan. In addition, teachers and staff have spent extensive amounts of time learning new strategies to engage students in a virtual platform as well as the traditional in-person model.
The COVID-19 pandemic affected our entire community and the world and led us on a journey none of us thought we would experience in our lifetime. Our community and families have experienced physical, emotional, health and financial strains. Ogden School District’s Keeping Ogden Healthy plan has been developed with a significant amount of input from students, parents, teachers and staff.
Keeping Ogden Healthy focuses on six key areas to ensure a safe and healthy return to school. The six areas are: Sanitation & Hygiene, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Physical Distancing, Student Well-Being, Staff Well-Being, and Student Learning & Engagement.
Keeping Ogden Healthy mitigates the spread of COVID-19 through the use of face masks or coverings and encouraging proper hygiene & sanitization, physical distancing, hallway flow adjustments, modifying lunch times and seating, recess adjustments and spacing of students in common areas. Each school in Ogden School District has developed site-specific plans that address the mitigation and implementation strategies. Please visit your school website or contact your student’s school for additional information.
Keeping Ogden Healthy addresses the needs of both physical and emotional health. The school dismissal last spring highlighted the importance of monitoring the social-emotional well-being of our students, families and staff. Using input from students, parents and educators, Keeping Ogden Healthy ensures that the well-being of our students and staff remains at the forefront of the decision making process.
The high levels of stress and trauma experienced during this time have highlighted the resiliency, strength, and importance of our amazing teachers and staff. Educators in Ogden School District are committed to both the learning needs and the emotional needs of every student. Keeping Ogden Healthy is designed to adapt to this evolving situation and to protect the health and well-being of students and employees.
Keeping Ogden Healthy welcomes back each student for safe, in-person instruction on August 26th. However, if a parent prefers that their student does not attend school in person, Ogden School District will provide alternative learning opportunities, including an online learning school named Ogden Online. Parents may enroll their child in this online program after completing the 2020-2021 registration process.
