Vision
Immediate action is needed to prepare our students for current and future jobs that may not exist today and to help them thrive in a rapidly-changing digital world. Ogden School District believes that we must prepare our community's future workforce for the demands of a world in which everyone will be required to solve complex problems, construct knowledge, and leverage technology as a powerful tool for personal growth, productivity, and active community participation.
Mission
Ogden School District aims to provide one personal device for every student (1:1) as to equip our learners with the tools and access required to
- Fully engage in the 21st century world,
- Take ownership of their learning goals,
- Develop skills needed in a digital society,
- Create authentic examples of learning,
- Demonstrate clear communication, and
- Express themselves creatively using appropriate technology tools.
Furthermore, by committing our time, effort, and ingenuity to this project, our district leadership team expects to transform our instructional and curricular resources to fully support the needs of our administrators, teachers, and students, to expand opportunities for all stakeholders, and to firmly establish Ogden School District as the epitome of a learning organization.

Why are Chromebooks the best tools to realize our Vision?
In addition to the secure, managed features, Chromebooks are inexpensive yet powerful. Their speed and durability make Chromebooks an excellent student device that works well with the systems and applications already used in education. For these reasons, our district leadership team decided that G Suite for Education and Chromebooks complimented our vision by meeting our organization’s demand for productivity, communication, and creativity tools.
Purpose of Technology in Education
Technology integration should be intentional and purposeful. It should be a tool that will enhance learning experiences and allow for a more personalized learning environment. This can include learners using digital tools to conduct research, solve problems, communicate, work collaboratively, and/or create original work in the learning process.
Leverage Technology for Learning: Technology is not a babysitter. Teachers are critical in the process of leveraging new opportunities that these tools and applications provide for students. We want to provide students with opportunities for active use of technology that engages students in the learning process.
Prioritize Student Needs: Technology isn’t always the best solution for what teachers plan to accomplish. The same technology program may not be the best solution for all students or all learning activities. Regardless of the technology tool, students should have clear learning goals and objectives; once they have shown they have mastered a skill, they can move on to their next goal. Technology can help ensure that all students can work within their own zones of proximal development and empowers them to make decisions about their own learning.
Flexibility is Key: “There is no ‘best model’. The best model is the right model for your school - or classroom - given your circumstances, students, and objectives.” Instructional models (station rotation, playlists, flipped lessons, etc.) can be modified or improved based on your classroom’s needs. Students should have clear learning goals and objectives; once they have shown they have mastered a skill, they can move on to their next goal. Students can access the same content through different mediums.
