Imagine Something Different!

Welcome to Ogden Technical High School (OTECH), where everyone can imagine something different!

As we embark on our inaugural year in 2024-2025, we are thrilled to open our doors to a vibrant community of learners dedicated to academic excellence and technical prowess.

At OTECH High School, students will immerse themselves in a dynamic learning environment that combines Personalized Competency-Based Learning (PCBL) core classes with hands-on technical education, ensuring a well-rounded and practical approach to their studies.

In addition to the rigorous academic curriculum, OTECH High School students will have the unique opportunity to maintain their enrollment at their home high school as well as attend Ogden Weber Technical College.

This partnership allows our students to gain valuable industry skills and certifications, preparing them for success in both higher education and the workforce. Imagine something different—an educational experience that fosters innovation, collaboration, and lifelong learning.

We can't wait to see our students thrive and achieve their dreams. Welcome to the OTECH family!

About Personalized, Competency Based Learning (PCBL)

Personalized, competency-based learning is an educational approach that is designed to make learning flexible and focused on individual needs and abilities. PCBL prioritizes the following ideas:

  • Personalized: All students follow an individualized plan for learning by making informed decisions on what, how, and when to interact with course concepts.
  • Self-Paced: Students move through content at a pace that matches their own needs. The journey is about gaining true understanding before rushing to new material. Students can move at an accelerated pace or take additional time to master concepts.
  • Competency-Based: Assessment is a meaningful, empowering, positive process for learning that focuses on mastering specific skills. Students progress when competency is proven through demonstration of skill.
  • Mentorship: Teachers are available to mentor through timely feedback, customized support, and guidance. Each student has a personalized coach for their learning process.
  • Authenticity: Students engage in project-based learning and practical application of skill to demonstrate understanding.
This opportunity allows students to apply knowledge in authentic contexts in preparation for lifelong success.
