Students at Odyssey Elementary School were recently treated to an unforgettable storytelling experience during the PAWS for Books event, presented by the Weber State Storytelling Festival in partnership with Brain Food Books.
Author and storyteller Antonio Sacre, who writes and performs in both English and Spanish, brought his stories to life through humor, emotion, and personal experiences. With over 30 years of storytelling expertise, Antonio’s visit encouraged students to embrace reading and discover the power of their own voices.
“My superpower is telling stories and speaking two languages,” Antonio shared. “And my hope is that students will leave here with an excitement to embrace reading and multilingual storytelling.”
In addition to the live storytelling assembly, each Odyssey student received a free book to take home.
The event celebrated the importance of literacy, cultural connection, and storytelling as a way to bring people together. Odyssey Elementary is proud to have hosted such an inspiring experience for its students and extends gratitude to the Weber State Storytelling Festival and Brain Food Books for making it possible.
